Degree in Design

I mentioned in my previous post that I found some new curtains for my dining room. I have draped them on the window to make sure that I like them and I really think I do. They seem to go well with the decor I have in the dining room. And by decor I mean the two pictures that are hanging on the wall.

I do have to tell you about my other curtain experience last week. We have lived in our house for almost 11 years and I have never hung curtains in our living room because I didn't know what to hang. We have one window next to the fireplace and then we have a door leading to the deck on the other side of the fireplace. This has always caused me issues because I wasn't sure what to do with the door. So I decided to do nothing.

Well several months ago I found some curtains on clearance at Target and I liked them and they were cheap, so of course I bought them. Do you see the clearance theme here? They sat in my closet up until last week because someone needed to convince someone else to hang a curtain rod. So last Thursday I talked him into it.

He hung the rod for me and then I go to hanging my curtains. I bought three valances and one panel. It was all they had left, so I got them. In my mind I thought that the one panel would be okay because I would sweep it to the side. I hung them up and then my husband informs me that they are the ugliest things he has ever seen. He thought I was joking when I hung them. He said that it looked like half of my curtains were missing. I was laughing and then I said this to him..."What do you know about decorating? Do you know how much HGTV I have watched!"

As soon as I said it I just started laughing. I threw out my tv watching as if it earned me some type of degree. Too funny!

In the end, I agreed with him and thought the one panel looked bad. So now I just have a valance and I'm happy with it.

I think for now I am happy with my curtains.

Enjoy your Friday!

Yes God!

Today I have been having myself a little Yes God day!

I found myself wandering around Walmart today and just having myself a little revival in my head and heart. I wanted to shout and it wasn't about the curtains that I found on clearance that are perfect for my dining room. I mean that is exciting, but what really got me going was seeing God at work in the lives of some of my friends.

He has been so mindful of them this week and has revealed Himself to them in some pretty neat ways. And that is exciting!

I mean doesn't it just turns things around for you when you are in the midst of a struggle, trial or just a really hard day and you read something or hear something or somebody says something to you and you know that it is a word to you from God. It really just blows my mind to think that The Great I Am has me, little ole me on His mind. Yes God, You Are Amazing!

May we have eyes to see Him and ears to hear Him in the midst of our everyday life. May we see His miracles amidst the mundane.

Thank You!

Thank you to those of you who still visit my blog even though I haven't posted anything in weeks. I appreciate you not giving up on my little blog here. I have actually been here everyday and have started numberous posts, but none were right to post.

I would like to introduce you to a new member of my family. Her name is Bella Blue. I will be honest and tell you that I did not initially want her, but now she has stolen my heart. She really is adorable. She is very playful. And so tiny and so cute!

I am also very excited because tomorrow I start a new Bible study with a new group of women, most of whom I do not know. I am excited for the opportunity to study the Word of God with them and also the friendships that will be formed. I mean can you ever really have enough girlfriends?
I believe God has placed some words on my heart for this year. The words are Crave, Self Control and Sacrifice. I am excited to see what God has in store! I know how I think they relate to me, but I want to know what He has to say.

Happy Belated New Year!

Well this morning was painful! We have been schedule free for two weeks and having to get up and get going this morning was not very fun. I think the kids did better than I did! I do have a valid excuse...the person sharing my bed with me had a hacking cough all night. I wanted to sigh heavily and flop around in the bed, but it was his birthday so I refrained.

We had a great Christmas. We were very thankful that we were all well. Last Christmas, my daughter was sick and was quite pitiful. You know a child is sick when they don't want to open their presents. But this year everyone was up to opening their presents. My most favorite part of Christmas is Christmas morning. Several years ago we started a new tradition of having our parents come over for breakfast. I don't want to brag, but this year I was actually ahead of the game and I prepared my breakfast goodies in advance. I made the Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls. These are the best cinnamon rolls in the world! I also made my friend Malissa's sausage and cream cheese pinwheels. And they are equally delicious! We also had pigs in the blanket and some fruit and it was all so yummy! We all ate together and then the kids got to show their grandparents what they got for Christmas. It is just so much fun and this year I took the time to savor it.

We have been super busy because we also have birthdays to celebrate. My son is now in the double digits and this mama can hardly believe it! I can't believe I am the mom of a ten year old. And then yesterday my husband turned the big 40! I can't believe that either because I fell in love with him when I was 13 and it is really hard to believe that much time has passed.

I laughed at him last night because we both kinda moaned when we got in bed because the sheets felt like ice. He said that he was going to buy him an electric blanket. I had to rub in that he is officially old when he's longing for an electric blanket. I like to pick on him because I am a few years behind him.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebrating our Saviour's birth. I also hope your new year is off to a great start. I am in a totally different place than I was last year at this time. I look forward to sharing with you over the next few weeks the journey I had with the Lord last year.

Have a great Wednesday!
